So you’re planning to pop the question, and now you need to find a wedding ring. BUT – you’re not quite ready to shell out 10k on an absurdly overpriced rock. Yeah, totally fair enough. So we’ve got your back here at the London Star and we’re gonna hit you with the best ways to find a cheap wedding ring that looks amazing.

And no – we’re not even gonna mention Argos in here.

Ready to start shopping for that cheap wedding ring? Oh and we do mean engagement ring…

1. Charity shops

There are plenty of great charity shops across the UK, and you’ll probably be able to find an amazing engagement ring for cheap if you do your scouring in a few of them. The trick is to pick a place that is relatively well to do, but doesn’t really know it.

So, don’t go shopping on Kensington High Street and expect to find a bargain. Try charity shops in somewhere like Acton, Harlesden, Southend or Romford. You know, those bastions of romance.

2. Markets in far flung towns

Small towns with mostly old people in are a GOLD MINE of cheap jewellery. Head to somewhere like Norfolk, Dorset or Yorkshire, and find a quaint market town with a big flea market – and browse away. Easier said than done if you can’t just nip 300 miles down the road. But if you have friends or family and you’re visiting anyways, give it a go.

Car boot sales can also be a great place to pick up some top notch jewellery.

3. Don’t buy a f***ing diamond

You do know that diamonds are overvalued because thats the whole reason for the diamond industry, right? So wedding ring doesn’t have to equal diamond ring. And, in fact, once you realise this then suddenly finding a cheap wedding ring becomes about a million times easier. Try looking for a similar precious stone such as white sapphire, white topaz or moissanite.

If you're looking for a cheap wedding ring, avoid diamonds

4. Go alternative

Once you’ve decided to give the diamonds a miss, suddenly a world of cheap wedding rings opens up to you. And I don’t mean cheap as in tacky and shit. There are countless cool and edgy contemporary wedding ring styles which could dazzle here with your phenomenal good taste.

5. Go vintage

We already touched on charity shops and far flung market towns… But the theme there is vintage, or second hand. If you want a cheap wedding ring, take a look at sites like eBay. In the name of research I just took a look for vintage diamond rings on eBay, ending now… You can grab a perfectly nice *diamond* ring for sub £300. So not just a cheap wedding ring, but a cheap diamond wedding ring too!

6. Stay away from the big shops

If you want a bargain engagement ring, just don’t go to a big jewellery shop and expect a cheap wedding ring. Try websites like Etsy and search for diamond rings, or search for cheap jewelery websites – there are plenty of them.
