There are a lot of CBD products out there, but perhaps one of the most obvious ways to enjoy the effects are to ingest it. While chocolate might be a bit too high calorie for some, and the idea of dabbing an oil in your mouth isn’t so appealing, there are a growing range of CBD soft drinks.
We came across the Goodrays CBD Selzer, flavoured with Elderflower and Yuzu, and thought we’d check it out.
How does this CBD drink stand up in our test?
First impressions
The packaging for the Goodrays Elderflower and Yuzu CBD selzer is simple and stylish, very contemporary. There are no crazy weed leaf motifs or crazy graphics, which is already a cut above several CBD brands I can think of.
The ingredients list is pretty simple too. No crazy additives on the list. In fact, the first ingredient is sparkling water, with the rest of the list made up by grape juice, ‘natural flavours’, CBD isolate and a dash of natural colour and citric acid.
And the low sugar content is reflected in the 33 calories listed in the nutritional info.
The can also clearly explains that this drink contains 30 mg of natural CBD.
While this isn’t a particularly high level of CBD, it does fall into the reasonable levels bracket. A low level would be 10 mg and high levels of CBD would be above 70 mg.
So we’ll be expecting a bit of a buzz then. OK, lets get stuck in…
Taste and effects
Quaffing our Goodrays CBD selzer on a blustery thursday lunchtime was actually quite a pleasant experience. The taste was subtle but with enough of that zesty sweetness that the can promises. This is very much a soft drink for grown ups (like, yeah, obviously…) and the flavour was pleasant enough that I downed the drink pretty quickly and could have happily gone for another.
I have seen some reviews of this product mention a bitter after taste from the CBD. If there was one, I barely noticed it. I actually found the selzer itself to be quite refreshing, with the sparkling water.
I then went about my day and it was probably only 20 minutes later or so that I remembered I’d had some CBD.
The 30 mg of CBD was certainly relaxing. I never find that the effects of CBD last that long, for me at least. So it was probably a good 15 minutes of the subtle CBD effects and back to normal.
How does CBD make you feel?
If you’ve not tried CBD before then you might be surprised. It is definitely noticable when the CBD starts to work. But unlike THC, you don’t feel ‘stoned’ or ‘high’. The effect is mostly one of feeling quite relaxed and calm, possibly even a bit numb.
The effects start anywhere from ten to twenty minutes after you consume CBD, and then you’ll slowly start to feel more of the buzz coming on.
I’ve also had CBD chocolate and some other CBD products, and I feel like they might have lasted slightly longer in terms of effects. Saying that, I was doing things and keeping busy after I had my Goodrays CBD selzer, so this review took place on the fly.
Compared to CBD chocolate when I’ve been relaxing at home, and able to notice the effects more clearly.
What are the benefits of CBD drinks?
If you’re wondering what the point of CBD selzer or drinks is, its a simple answer. CBD induces a calming effect, and is often touted as an anti anxiety tonic, or an aid for restful sleep and pain relief. While I’m not sure I’d use this selzer for pain relief, it is definitely something I’d use at the end of a busy day to unwind and relax.
All in all, I found the Goodrays CBD selzer to be a tasty way to enjoy the effects of CBD at a reasonable price.
I bought my Goodrays Elderflower and Yuzu CBD selzer online, for around £2.60 for one can.
